What is Biomedical Imaging Informatics?
This emerging discipline defines the role of medical imaging and related technologies within the context of medical informatics decison support and improvement of patient care and outcome. The curriculum in biomedical imaging informatics is designed to train interdisciplinary experts who will provide medicine with image-based and robotic-based systems that are 1) clinically needed, 2) useful for teaching and training, 3) improve the medical decision making process, and 4) help reduce clinical error. The Biomedical Imaging Informatics program focuses on the evaluation and validation of these image-based technologies, that can lead to technology-based certification in different medical and surgical specialties.
