Education and Training
The department of Biomedical Informatics offers several opportunities for training in clinical informatics. Students interested in informatics careers in the health care industry may pursue a masters degree , while those interested in an advanced research position in an academic or commercial setting should consider a doctorate . Applicants who already possess a doctorate in medicine or related field, but who do have have informatics training should consider pursuing a postdoctoral fellowship, which leads to a masters degree . Finally, there are postdoctoral positions available to graduates with doctoral preparation in informatics. The curriculum provides trainees with general informatics competencies and skills through basic and core courses. Applications of this knowledge to clincal problems is explored through the track in clinical informatics, which provides a variety of elective courses. The department also offers a wide range of hands-on experience by participating in research projects. |
