• Improving access to information during patient care: extracting information from narrative data using natural language processing ( MedLEE ) enriching electronic medical records with structured narrative data (ClinNote); enabling patients to access their own medical records ( PatCIS )
• Improving patient care processes: improving care processes through automated monitoring ( VigiLens ); standardizing clinical guidelines (GLIF) ; reducing medical errors and improving patient safety through data mining (HUNCH); using telemedicine to help patients manage chronic disease ( IDEATel )
