This course is an introduction to conducting scientific research
in informatics.
Topics include: observation and measurement, hypothesis formulation,
design of experiments, execution of protocols,
essential research skills and ethical issues in research.
Material is conveyed through online modules, readings and journal articles.
Classes are highly interactive discussions driven by case-based scenarios.

Each student gains hands-on experience with research design and ethics by developing a research protocol for submission to the IRB (Institutional Review Board). |
